QEII Halifax Infirmary Fire Protected by Viking Fire Protection Inc.

A Landmark Project with Safety at Its Core
The QEII Halifax Infirmary, fire protected by Viking Fire Protection, is part of the largest healthcare infrastructure development in Atlantic Canada. This new acute care tower will expand capacity, add critical medical spaces, and deliver state-of-the-art services to Nova Scotians, all while being safeguarded by industry-leading fire protection systems.
Viking’s Role in Keeping the QEII Halifax Infirmary Fire Protected
Viking Fire Protection’s Dartmouth, NS office has been selected to design, install, and commission the extensive fire suppression systems required for the QEII Halifax Infirmary. The scope includes:
-
More than 12,000 sprinkler heads
-
Two fire pumps
-
Over 100 wet, dry, and pre-action systems
-
A dedicated foam system for the helideck
With installation beginning in 2026 and completion in 2030, this large-scale project will employ about 20 Viking Fire Protection team members to ensure the QEII Halifax Infirmary remains fully fire protected.

When finished, the new tower will add 216 beds, 16 operating rooms, a larger emergency department, and advanced imaging and laboratory spaces.
