Compliance Requirements

Since February 2016, our Montreal branch maintains a registered environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001. This international standard is the establishment and maintenance of an environmental management system, which allows our company to set goals for the continuous improvement of our environmental performance.

At Viking Montreal, the ISO 14001 standard applies to all levels: from planning to design, purchasing to production, and right up to the job sites. This certification aims to reduce the harmful effects of our activities on the environment.

Associations & Certifications

National Fire Protection Association is an American organization advocating worldwide fire prevention and public safety by establishing codes and standards designed to minimize the risk and effects of fire. The inception of NFPA in 1896 instituted a significant innovation in the field of fire protection. By rigorous criteria, the association established 300 codes and standards that are the key reference in the field of fire protection and prevention. VIKING systems are designed and installed exclusively according to NFPA standards.

The Canadian Fire Alarm Association is a non-profit Canadian association established in 1973, with a record of outstanding accomplishments and with a deep passion for “raising the bar” for public fire safety. The CFAA remains steadfast in its original mission to “Maximize the Effectiveness and Use of Fire Alarm Systems in the Protection of Life and Property”. The Fire Suppression Systems Association (FSSA) is a not-for-profit trade association, drawing members domestic and internationally, and is comprised of a blend of designer/installers, manufacturers, consultants, academics, and suppliers working together to share ideas and strategies for the benefit of the fire suppression systems industry. FSSA members are dedicated to the highest level of safety, reliability, and effectiveness of special hazards fire suppression.

Viking Fire Protection Inc. uses products that are recognized by ULC standards (Underwriters Laboratories of Canada). The ULC marking is recognized nationally in Canada and can be found on various types of products such as construction materials as well as fire prevention and extinguishing products. A ULC-certified product is a product that complies with Canadian safety standards.  Consumers and professionals alike look for the ULC mark as a trusted symbol of safety.

Another strict standard is the FM Approved marking which is synonymous with the highest quality standard recognized worldwide. This is why Viking trusts FM-approved products and is proud to offer its customers the best product available.

Quality

Since 1995, our Montreal team has been working in accordance with the ISO 9001 rigorous standards and has maintained a certified quality assurance system, version 2015, adapted to its customers’ needs. Whether it is sales, design, development, manufacturing, installation or customer service, our clientele can depend on the highest quality standards. Through our quality assurance system, we can constantly innovate to remain on the cutting edge of technology in the field of fire protection. At Viking, we take customer satisfaction at heart and are proud to offer quality systems designed to meet stringent requirements.

In addition, the Montreal office proven Quality Management System has since been implemented in all Canadian offices. Even if these offices do not have an official ISO 9001:2015 certification, a corporate audit process ensures rigorous monitoring and the issuance of corporate recognition.

The Viking Fire Protection management team aims to protect the firm’s human, material, and financial resources against all accidental losses and maintain our commitment to work with employees in a spirit of cooperation and consultation regarding issues relating to occupational health & safety environment.

We consider these fundamental objectives to be an integral and essential part of planning, design, purchasing, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, and service.

  • Develop and maintain a management system incorporating worker’s safety and environmental management which is consistent with our business plan and orientations from OHSAS 18001 international standards;
  • Comply with local laws, contracts or other stipulated requirements;
  • Protect the health and safety of people that are carrying out work for Viking Fire Protection by implementing prevention measures;
  • Promoting and developing awareness, leadership, and account­ability concerning environmental protection and safety among all employees and persons working for or on behalf of Viking Fire Protection;
  • Prevent pollution and reduce and manage waste to minimize its potential impacts on the environment;
  • Proactively analyze the risks associated with our operations regarding the environment and people’s safety and involve management in the execution of an associated annual action plan;
  • Adopt measurable goals and means of achieving them;
  • Continually improve the effectiveness of our management system and our EHS performances.
  • The executives, managers, and employees must work together to prevent damages and losses, raise consciousness on health and safety and environmental issues and plan and maintain our various objectives.
  • We must get involved and unite in the effort to attain these fundamental objectives, to ensure that we stay leaders in occupational health and safety, environment, and fire protection.
