Refineries - Viking Fire Protection

Refineries

Need help!

Petroleum refineries are most hazards industries due to their characteristic of handling, processing and storing different types flammables materials at or above flash point and ignition temperature. There are number of hazards including flammability, toxicity, explosion, physical hazard, noise, ergonomics, electrical hazard, etc.

Our teams across Canada use special detection systems, mostly flame detectors. Viking also provides integration between detection and suppression.

Viking built its reputation of excellence one project at a time, with the help of a team of professionals, and through the proven efficiency of its systems, which are manufactured using only high-quality products by such manufacturers as Viking Corporation and FireFlex Systems.

The FireFlex ICAF compressed air foam system is a deluge-type system that uses a balanced piping network and can be activated by electric, pneumatic or manual release. The ICAF system is FM Approved as a local application extinguishing system for class B pool fires, spill fires and cascading fires.

Foam fire suppression systems are an ideal and effective alternative for the protection of large surfaces with minimal water damage. Foam systems suppress rapidly progressing fires and prevent re-ignition. They also allow the rapid cooling of the surrounding areas, which significantly reduces water demand and environmental costs.

CASE STUDIES

We have the solution for your project

De Beers Canada – Snap Lake Mine

Since 1888, De Beers has been involved in all aspects of the diamond business. From its mining operations across Africa, and most recently Canada, the company produces about 35 per cent of the world’s supply of rough diamonds. The Snap Lake Mine, De Beers’ first mine outside of Africa, is unique in Canada. Built on the shore of Snap Lake, 220 kilometres northeast of Yellowknife, the mine is Canada’s first completely underground diamond mine.

Eastmain Power Station – Hydro-Quebec

The result of numerous consultations with the communities concerned, the Eastmain-1-A/Sarcelle/Rupert project has incorporated many environmental protection measures into its design and has taken into account the concerns expressed by the host communities. It will be highly cost-effective, as much of the 8.7 TWh it will add to the company’s annual output will be in the form of optimized capacity at the existing La Grande generating facilities. The Eastmain-1-A/Sarcelle/Rupert project is also generating major economic spinoffs for the communities concerned and for Québec as a whole.

I have had the privilege of working with the Viking Fire Protection team since 2019, after graduating from Seneca College. I have the chance to learn a lot on industry practice and I can make a real difference onsite. Seeking fire violations, improving fire safety in buildings, and the testing and verifications of fire protection systems with an experienced group of colleague is exciting and highly rewarding
