Canadian Museum of Nature
The original building of the Canadian Museum of Nature dates from 1905. In 1990, the museum was designated a national historic site of Canada because of its architecture and its prominent role in the development of museology in the country. Starting in 2004, the museum underwent extensive renovations, which included the addition of huge 20-metre glass lantern in replacement of the original tower that was removed in 1915. The modern look of the new tower blends perfectly with the classic architecture of the original building. From 2005 to 2009, Viking Fire Protection took part in the project and, among other things, brought existing systems up to standards and installed fire protection systems tailored to the new sections of the monumental building.
Roger-Guindon Hall University of Ottawa
The Roger Guindon Hall is home to the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine. The complex is located outside the university’s main campus, in the heart of the health sciences centre that also includes the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, the Royal Ottawa Regional Rehabilitation Centre and the Ottawa Hospital Regional Cancer Centre.
