Job Description

Your mission

Reporting to the District Manager, you will be mainly responsible to manage and coordinate the design team department workload, and to work in conjunction with sales representatives and project coordinators to maintain and development good relationships with our clients.  Among other things, your responsibilities will be to:

  • Collect and analyze all information necessary for design;
  • Identify standards and codes governing design and installation of automatic fire sprinkler systems;
  • Plan, schedule and organize all phases of the project;
  • Establish the basic design criteria for the project with the client;
  • Proceed to automatic fire sprinkler system design and layout, hydraulic calculations, material stocklisting;
  • Proceed to site surveys and plan review;
  • Review engineering and design schedules, man-hour budgets and controls;
  • Monitor contract changes and provide details of material and labour cost changes to sales representatives;
  • Follow budgets and deadlines.

Working within a team of fire protection professional, your work will help the company to adequately meet his clients' expectations and guarantee them the security of their fire systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical or electrical Engineering, or College diploma in fire protection or building mechanics or civil engineering;
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in supervision of a sprinkler design team;
  • Experience with all water suppression, foam agent, gas agent systems and Industrial Quality Control procedures (an asset);
  • Proficiency in standards and codes governing the design and installation of automatic fire protection systems;
  • Proficiency in computer-assisted design with AutoCAD;
  • Very good knowledge of fire suppression/sprinkler design software (knowledge of Hydratec software an asset);
  • Specific training in fire protection;
  • Valid driver's licence;
  • Leadership, ability to manage a team.
